The restoration of the Sacred Heart statue which stands atop the mountain at the Mother Cabrini Shrine in Golden, Colorado has now commenced four months after lightning struck the statue severely damaging the arms, feet and base. Months of research and many hours working with the insurance company, engineers and contractors preceded the start of the restoration project which is expected to take approximately 90 days to complete.

A Sacred Heart Statue Restoration Fund has been instituted. The Missionary Sisters and Shrine staff are very grateful for the support they have received thus far and they continue to accept donations for this restoration project. At this time the estimated cost of repairs to the Sacred Heart of Jesus statue and the surrounding area is estimated to be approximately $200,000. Insurance will cover approximately $120,000 of those costs.
