Spirit of Cabrini Award Dinner Raises Money for Cabrini Programs

With the New Year upon us, I wish you and your families a happy and healthy 2010 and beyond. While it may seem five months away, our Spirit of Cabrini Award Dinner (formerly known as the Cabrini Gala) Committee is hard at work to make sure this special event is a tremendous success.

Slated for Wednesday, May 19, at a new location – the beautiful Pierre Hotel in New York City, this year’s fundraiser marks the first-time that CMF will present the Medal of Mother Cabrini. This very special award, which will not be given every year, goes to those individuals who have dedicated their lives to selfless service of the less fortunate, and whose very efforts symbolize the work of Mother Cabrini.

The inaugural recipient of this prestigious honor is Cardinal Theodore McCarrick, the Archbishop Emeritus of Washington, DC, who has been a tireless champion of the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus around the world.

The Spirit of Cabrini Award will be presented to long-time CMF Board member and benefactor Vincent Tese, as well three-term Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz.

Since CMF inception, Mr. Tese has been a faithful and loyal advocate of Cabrini through his time, talent and treasure. The Honorable Marty Markowitz has championed programs for education, housing and immigration in New York’s “Borough of Immigrants” throughout his famed political career.

The Spirit of Cabrini Award Dinner is the major fundraiser for the Cabrini Mission Foundation. To pre-register or to find out about sponsorship opportunities, please call CMF at 212-228-8608.

Thank you and we hope to see you at The Pierre Hotel on Wednesday evening, May 19!
