Cabrini Open Soars in Long Island |

The tournament took place on Thursday, September 24, at North Hempstead Country Club in Port Washington, NY. Thanks to the leadership and tireless efforts of its co-chairs, Patrick Dunleavy and Marvell Scott, MD, as well as their committee, the outing raised necessary funds for programs of healing, teaching and caring that are synonymous with Cabrini. We are truly grateful to everyone on our committee and Board, as well as our sponsors, volunteers and, of course, the Missionary Sisters, for making sure the Cabrini Open was an overwhelming success, said Nick Vendikos, Vice President of Development. We look forward to building on todays event to make sure that the Cabrini Open becomes a must attend event on everyones calendar. Besides a sensational brunch, lunch-at-the-turn and a round of golf at one of the top country clubs on Long Island the day also included a $50,000 Hole-In-One opportunity, a Cabrini Golf Clinic for the young women of St. Cabrini Home and Mother Cabrini High School and a Cabrini Putting Challenge in which the golfers competed against Sr. Arlene Van Dusen, MSC. The tournament was followed by a cocktail reception, dinner and awards ceremony in which players and guests participated in raffles, and a silent and live auction hosted by Dr. Scott. Also joining the guests at North Hempstead that day were former New York Giants Howard Cross and Dave Brown. Most importantly, everyone in attendance knew the importance of the day was to help those individuals women, children, immigrants and elders who are often forgotten about or marginalized in society.
