Last November, Cipriani Wall Street was once more decked out to greet all the Cabrini guests. With a spotlight on Cabrini Ministries in Swaziland, Southern Africa, MSC Sisters Speranza D’Ambrosi and Anna Maria de Oliveira were honored for their combined service of sixty years among the people of this land. In accepting the Cabrini Mission Award, Sr. Speranza gave thanks for the blessings and experience of all these years and paid tribute to her long time friend, Sr. Anna Maria, who received the award posthumously.

Sr. Barbara Staley, MSC who currently serves on this mission with Sr. Diane Dalle Molle, MSC, gave a moving presentation and update on the various programs and outreach efforts that provide hope and sustenance to the Swazi people, especially the children. She opened with a typical Swazi greeting, “Sanibonani!” and we all responded on cue: “Yebo!”

Michael Hoffman, Chairman and CEO of Changing Our World, Inc., received the Spirit of Cabrini Award to honor his years of involvement in works that promote healing, teaching and caring, the hallmarks of Cabrini Mission Foundation outreach. From its beginning, Mike has been a constant supporter of the Foundation, serves as Board Chair for Cabrini Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, and continues to be a valued advisor and friend.

The many guests who participated in this annual event also generously bid on auction items, which enabled us to reach a grand total close to half a million. Cabrini Mission Foundation wishes to extend gratitude, once again, to all of you who made this evening so memorable.

Every year, family, friends and supporters of Cabrini Mission Foundation gather for a special night of recognition, entertainment and inspiration. The annual Cabrini Mission Foundation Gala and Awards, held in New York City, is an important opportunity to celebrate both the works of the Foundation and the people whose generous support and commitment keep the Foundation vibrant and strong, year after year.

The Foundation presents The Spirit of Cabrini Award to an individual or individuals who exemplify the Cabrinian mission of service from the heart, especially to women, children, immigrants and elders. The Award is not only about accomplishments and hard work, but also about vision, leadership, and the promise of the future. Past honorees include Daniel T.
