Cabrini Mission Corps: Partners in Service and Mission |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||
After a process of mutual discernment with the CMC Director, Cabrini lay missioners commit to full-time service and living simply in a faith community with MSCs and sometimes with other missioners. CMC supports and accompanies each missioner by providing opportunities for spiritual growth throughout a missioners term of service. Over 100 missioners have served in Cabrini missions worldwide in nine countries internationally and six U.S. cities. Former missioner Christine Pluta was one of the first missioners to serve with the MSCs in Herrera del Duque, Spain, where she taught elementary level religion, formed high school youth groups and supported the two Cabrini Sisters she lived with in their parish ministries. Today she is a physician working at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia. Christine attributes her Cabrini Mission Corps experience for molding her into the person she is today: In the homes of all Cabrini Sisters, there is a quote from St. Paul I can do all things in He who gives me strength. This has become my mantra. CMC missioners continue the legacy of Cabrini missioners, drawn to Mother Cabrinis vision and charism, bringing their unique gifts to the work she began and which her Sisters and their lay collaborators continue today.
