The all-day tournament and reception featured over 40 participants including legendary New York City sportscasters, Dr. Marvell Scott and Scott Clark from ABCs Channel 7 Eyewitness News. In fact, Dr. Scott, who has been a longtime supporter of the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, served as the evenings emcee a role he will play again at the Gala. Over 50 dinner guests were delighted to hear from Sr. Arlene Van Dusen and Sr. Catherine Garry. Other CMF Board members who showed their support that evening included Sr. Marilyn Fischer, SFP, Patrick Dunleavy and new CMF President & CEO Gene McCormick, who welcomed the crowd and served as Master of Ceremonies. Despite the title change, and some passing rain showers, many aspects of the event remained the same. Thankfully, Dr. Robert Tornambe was once again the chairman of the Cabrini Open. Dr. Tornambe was joined on the committee by CMF Board member Dr. Albert Ciancimino, whose time and efforts ensure that this event will continue to build momentum under the CMF umbrella as it expands its scope beyond the medical community. We are so grateful to everyone for coming out and supporting this tournament by playing, attending the reception and through their generous sponsorships, said Nick Vendikos, CMFs Vice President of Development. We look forward to building on this outing and making the Cabrini Open a must-attend event on everyones calendar. In previous years the Cabrini Open raised money for Cabrini Hospital but this was its inaugural outing under the Mission Foundation. The over $9,100 in proceeds will go to fund Cabrini programs and institutions of healing, teaching and caring.
