CMF Announces Honorees for
the 2010 Spirit of Cabrini
Awards Dinner

2010 Spirit of Cabrini Awards Dinner Honorees. From top: Cardinal Theodore McCarrick, Vincent Tese, Marty Markowitz.

Please mark your calendars for Wednesday, May 19, and join the Cabrini Mission Foundation at the Spirit of Cabrini Award Dinner (formerly known as the Cabrini Gala) at The Pierre Hotel in New York City.

This year’s fundraiser marks the first-time that the Foundation will present the Medal of Mother Cabrini. This very special award, which will not be given every year, goes to those individuals who have dedicated their lives to selfless service of the less fortunate, and whose very efforts symbolize the work of Mother Cabrini.

The inaugural recipient of this prestigious honor is Cardinal Theodore McCarrick, the Archbishop Emeritus of Washington, DC, who has been a tireless champion of the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus around the world.

“His Eminence has been such a tremendous advocate of the Missionary Sisters for many years,” said Nick Vendikos, CMF President & CEO, “that it is only fitting that the Cardinal will be the very first recipient of the Medal of Mother Cabrini.”

This year’s honorees of the Spirit of Cabrini Award are longtime CMF Board member and benefactor Vincent Tese and three-term Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz, who has championed programs for education, housing and immigration in New York’s “Borough of Immigrants.”

“Mr.Tese has been a tremendous benefactor with his time, talent and treasure to CMF since its inception,”Vendikos said. “Having him accept the Spirit of Cabrini Award is truly a special occasion for the Cabrini family.”

The Spirit of Cabrini Award Dinner is the major fundraiser for the Cabrini Mission Foundation.

Proceeds for the dinner go toward programs of healing, teaching and caring throughout the Stella Maris Province. Besides the cocktail reception, dinner and awards, there will be a silent auction of rare memorabilia, travel packages and other unique opportunities.

Individual tickets are $600 per person and tables of 10 for $6,000. If you are not in the New York-Metropolitan area, there are many sponsorship opportunities available. To RSVP or to find out more information, please call CMF at 212-228-8608
